Established in 1969, The Badger Herald is one of the first independent and student run newspapers in America. Since its establishment, it has been awarded one of the top five independent newspapers in the country along with countless other awards.
We publish 11,500 issues on Monday and Thursday to more than 115 locations on the UW Madison Campus, Madison Area Technical College Campus, Capital Square, State Street, and other downtown businesses.
Our online news expands much further. Last year, The Badger Herald launched a 24/7 online news model to ensure we report on events the moment they happen via our website and social media outlets. The Badger Herald is UW Madison’s only 24/7 news source.
- 24,950 Undergraduates
- 9,430 Graduate students
- 21,727 Faculty & Staff
- 11,500 Papers distributed weekly
- 250,000+ Site sessions per month
- 36,000+ Site visitors returning more than 10 times per month.
UW-Madison is a unique campus with a strong culture of student journalism boasting two separate newspapers. This is how we stack up against the competition.
With 3x Facebook likes and nearly twice the twitter followers as The Daily Cardinal, we drive more traffic to our website and reach thousands more students.
Our weekly distribution stays on stands longer than The Daily Cardinal, giving ads more exposure without the added cost of daily purchase.
